Jackson Convention Complex / SMG Announce Key Promotion
JACKSON, MS (January 21, 2015) – The Jackson Convention Complex and SMG are pleased to announce the promotion of Kelvin Moore, who has served as General Manager for the Jackson Convention Complex since 2011. Kelvin has been named Regional General Manager for the Festival Hall at Navy Pier, Chicago, IL. In his new role, he will assume the day-to-day responsibilities for the over 200,000 sq ft convention facility located at the heart of the most visited tourist destination in the State of Illinois. In addition, Kelvin will be joining the leadership team of SMG’s Convention Center Division and will retain oversight and direct involvement in the operation of the Jackson Convention Complex as Regional General Manager.
A 23 year industry veteran, Kelvin began his career in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas as a production specialist for Busch Entertainment Corporation at Sea World of Texas. Prior to joining SMG in 2008 as general manager of the Lynnwood Convention Center, Kelvin worked his way up in the industry holding various positions at stadiums, convention centers and multi-purposed facilities in San Antonio, Phoenix, Richmond (VA), Overland Park (KS) and Corpus Christi (TX).

SMG, the worldwide leader in the management of public assembly facilities has commenced a national search to replace Kelvin as the day-to-day manager of the Convention Complex. In cooperation with the Capital City Convention Center Commission, SMG is moving expeditiously reviewing potential candidates. In the meantime, Kelvin will utilize a strong on-site team coupled with the national resources of SMG to manage the day-to-day functions of the Complex.
