Parents & Kids Magazine Metro Jackson College Fair Returns To The Jackson Convention Complex

Jackson, MS, Feb. 2014 – – SMG, the Worldwide Leader in Convention and Entertainment Management, is proud to welcome the 2014 Metro Jackson College Fair back to the Jackson Convention Complex on Tuesday, February 18. The College Fair, sponsored by Parents & Kids Magazine, will offer high school students from across the state the chance to explore their college options as a way to brighten their future and make the most of their opportunities.

Kelvin D. Moore, SMG General Manager for the Jackson Convention Complex, said the College Fair has become a welcomed and vital staple to the Complex’s list of annual events.

“Hosting events such as this is a great example of how we are able to provide a home for organizations such as Parents & Kids Magazine and support them in their efforts to expand educational opportunities for area youth,” Moore said. “The Metro Jackson College Fair provides high school students with the opportunity to obtain the information they need to make smart decisions about their future.”

Gretchen Cook, Editor and Publisher of Parents & Kids Magazine, said the College Fair is part of the magazine’s mission to help children and parents alike.

“We all know the greatest gift you can give a child is the gift of an education, and at the College Fair we aim to equip the young people of Mississippi to achieve the best education possible,” Cook said.

This year’s guest speaker at the College Fair will be Hill Harper, star of the hit CBS drama “CSI: NY.” A native of Iowa City, Hill has performed in numerous television, film and stage productions. He also graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and cum laude from Harvard Law School. He also holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government. Cook said Hill’s message and the opportunities at the College Fair will go a long way toward helping high school kids make thoughtful decisions about their future.

“Between meeting with colleges from across the country, listening to motivational speaker and actor Hill Harper, and attending informative sessions on receiving financial aid for school, the college fair hopes to provide kids with the resources, skills and knowledge they need to achieve a college education,” she said.

The College Fair will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on February 18 at the Jackson Convention Complex.Information on the event can also be found at
