Food & Beverage Accountant

Job Summary:

The Food & Beverage (F&B) Accountant at the Jackson Convention Complex is responsible for managing financial operations related to food and beverage services, ensuring accuracy in reporting, cost control, and compliance with financial policies. This role plays a critical part in tracking revenue, monitoring expenses, and optimizing profitability for catering, concessions, and other F&B operations within the complex.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee daily financial transactions for all F&B revenue streams, including concessions, catering, and special events.
  • Prepare financial reports, profit & loss statements, and variance analysis specific to F&B operations.
  • Ensure all F&B revenue and expenses are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Assist in monthly and annual financial close processes, including journal entries and accruals.

Cost Control & Inventory Management

  • Monitor and analyze food and beverage costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and improved profitability.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits, ensuring accurate tracking and reconciliation of food and beverage stock.
  • Work closely with the F&B Director to maintain cost-effective purchasing and minimize waste.
  • Assist in pricing analysis for menu items to ensure profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Implement fraud prevention measures, conducting periodic audits of F&B transactions procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety financial reporting requirements.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments to food and beverage suppliers.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies in billing.
  • Assist with client invoicing and collections related to catered events and concessions.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the F&B Director, General Manager, and Finance team to improve financial performance.
  • Support budget planning and forecasting for F&B operations.
  • Collaborate with event planners, catering managers, and suppliers to enhance financial efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or event venue industries.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, SAP).
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in convention center, hotel, or large-scale event venue accounting.
  • Certification such as CPA, CMA, or CHAE (Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage cost control methods.
